The Orcas Island Farmers’ Market (OIFM) has hired Charly Robinson as the new market manager.

“Charly brings wonderful energy, excellent skills, and a heartfelt commitment to the goals of the market,” says OIFM Board Member Joe Symons. “We are delighted to have her.”

The market manager’s duties include public relations, coordination, negotiation, record keeping, problem solving, logistics and vendor support.

“It’s like producing an outdoor performance every week with an eclectic cast of characters and notoriously fickle weather,” Symons said.

For Charly, the position provides an opportunity to apply her experience to support the Orcas community.

“I’m very excited about the upcoming market season,” said Robinson. “I’ve worked with numerous island farmers over the last few years, and helping to keep the market vibrant is a way to give back to those who have been generous teachers, mentors and friends. Market vendors need our support this season more than ever as they deal with the increased cost of rental for the Village Green. My goal is to make the market as fun and successful as possible.”

The Orcas Island Farmers’ Market is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday from May 1 through September on the Village Green in the heart of Eastsound. It features the wares of some 35 local vendors. For information, please visit www.orcasislandfarmersmarket.org or call Robinson at 472-1522.
