Fall farmers market moves inside to Odd Fellows Hall

Tomatoes are still in season, just barely, and winter vegetables for keeping are coming on strong.

The Orcas Island Farmers Market heads inside to the Odd Fellows Hall for the entire month of October. Fall hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“What a cozy venue for selecting the best for your family and entertaining,” says market manager Jennifer Pietsch.

To help celebrate the fall season there are several special events happening.

On Saturday, Oct. 8, the Lopez Island Vineyards will be on hand with a wine tasting to benefit the Farm to Cafeteria Program at the public school.

For the remaining three weekends, the market will offer cooking demonstrations featuring how to make fresh pumpkin pie and a fall butternut squash lasagna.

Bullocks Permaculture will also join the excitement with a presentation on preserving the season’s bounty.

Call Jennifer Pietsch at 317-8342 with questions.
